The Mark of the Maker

Bourbon aged for 6 to 7 years in charred oak barrels
Our bed and breakfast sits in the middle of the famous Kentucky Bourbon Trail, and we are three miles from Maker's Mark, the oldest Kentucky distilling site still in use.  We purchase tickets for the "Beyond the Mark" tour. Our guide suggests that bourbon may have been produced around here even during prohibition. We taste mash at multiple stages of fermentation and distillation.

We dip our own bottles in the characteristic Maker's Mark red wax.  I go for a liberal approach.

The rest of the day, every smell reminds us of the delicious taste of Maker's Mark mash.

    1. You bet! But that's a spoiler. We got three special bottles - for three special Dads we happen to know.
