We drive about 16 miles for supper. It's worth every mile. Since we have no reservations, we sit at the bar. I ask a guy what he's drinking. "Maker's 46" sez he. I order the same. He wants to talk. He's Sheriff Rick McCubbin the former Chief of Police of Bardstown having retired just last month.

He has a wealth of knowledge about the locals - including a murder last week. He's also curious about retirement. And he's 10 hears younger than I. I should have been a sheriff.
