Rug Factory
Many Indian rugs confront us everywhere. There are factory-made and hand-made. Rugs from Delhi, from Rajasthan and from Cashmere. Made of silk, wool, cotton and mixtures. Thread-count and pile compete with dyes and patterns for the discerning shopper's eye. We enjoy an afternoon in a factory shop watching a presentation on rug making in which we are plied with drinks and told that this is the only best option. But we've already made a purchase and are satisfied. The pressure is off for us, but the boss is watching the salesmen like a hawk and they must look persuasive so we listen politely.
