People work in the most primitive and appalling conditions everywhere. This is inescapable. If you capitalize and add equipment, people will be put out of a job. Yet you should buy from India because the labor is so cheap. It feels exhaustingly hopeless. These people - dressed in beautiful saris and with a quick wit and humor - sleep under a piece of cardboard on a pile of trash with the dogs. It is not an occasional sight. Even little ragamuffins begging for a Rupee generally have something they'll trade with you made with crayons or a stick. You wonder where they got the crayons.
